Congressional Support
ImageWhether it has been getting the project authorized, moving it through the various approval processes or securing annual funding, a hallmark of Lewis & Clark has been the strong bipartisan support and effective leadership of its current and previous elected officials. When it comes to the critical mission of providing drinking water to the region, there are no party lines or state lines. Lewis & Clark's congressional delegation, which includes Senators Johnson, (D-SD), Thune (R-SD)Grassley (R-IA), Harkin (D-IA), Klobuchar (D-MN) and Franken (D-MN), and Representatives Walz (D-MN), Peterson (D-MN), King (R-IA), and Noem (R-SD), have been steadfast in their support. In addition, Lewis & Clark enjoys strong support from Governors Daugaard (R-SD), Branstad (R-IA), and Dayton (D-MN), as well as the state legislatures in SD, MN, and IA and local leaders. It is this partnership and cooperation among federal, state, and local levels of government that will continue to move the project forward to completion.
